I got my display shoot box thingy or whatever they call these things for photographing small objects. Pretty happy with it, considering I’m a complete amateur at these things. Here’s the Rhombic Dodecahedron I created with Zome.

As you can see in the above, I added the struts from the center – red – sphere to each of the blue spheres – vertexes. Turns out there are two different sets of these, of course, represented here with the blue and the yellow struts. The yellow struts are all the same lengthened the blues are slightly larger. And if you notice, these blue struts form the familiar XYZ basis vectors, which is kind of cool that you can see that directly embedded in the geometry.
Next up is the truncated Octahedron and the basis vectors for the translation between the Cartesian and B.C.C grids.

Not particularly happy with that, but it’s way better than I previously had. That box can’t do miracles, but it can do the best with what I got. So glad for it. Need to work on my post processing, though, of course.
Here’s the basis vectors from the above extracted from the truncated octahedron and on their own. Again, I’m just struck with that I can just create this basis using standard Zome construction. No fancy stuff, just basic geometry (with advanced CAD and 3D printing, admittedly). Very cool, imo.

Anyways, not a dramatic update. Will hopefully have the FCC and BCC gridding visualization done well enough for a post this weekend. We’ll see. Maybe even my navigator thingy which is basically a Turtle for navigating the world geometry I’m creating. Getting the hang of the JavaFX stuff, somewhat.
