Wanted to collect here in this post the foundational papers that I used to create Delos and its component pieces.
- Key Event Receipt Architecture – this is the KERI specification; Delos uses KERI for fundamental identity and key management.
- Secrets at Scale: Automated Bootstrapping of Secrets & Identity in the Cloud – a rather good talk that led me down the journey to Gorgoneion and ultimately to running in Trusted Execution Environments
- Fireflies: A Secure and Scalable Membership and Gossip Service – Secure membership and communications overlay. Must read.
- Self-stabilizing and Byzantine-Tolerant Overlay Network – A byzantine self stabilizing extension of Fireflies
- Stable and Consistent Membership at Scale with Rapid – Delos Fireflies incorporates the ideas from this paper to provide stable, virtually synchronous views for Delos Fireflies.
- Reducing noise in gossip-based reliable broadcast – this is the mechanism Delos’ reliable broadcast uses to garbage collect its buffers.
- Aleph: Efficient Atomic Broadcast in Asynchronous Networks with Byzantine Nodes – This is the asynchronous BFT consensus implemented by Delos Ethereal.
- From Byzantine Consensus to BFT State Machine Replication: A Latency-Optimal Transformation – Delos CHOAM’s design was inspired by this paper.
- From Byzantine Replication to Blockchain: Consensus is only the Beginning– Delos CHOAM’s design was inspired by this paper.
- TRON – A Finite State Machine model for Java – My super delicious and so nutritious Finite State Machine framework.
- Zanzibar: Google’s Consistent, Global Authorization System – Delos Delphinius is based on Zanzibar.
- Maintaining Transitive Closure of Graphs in SQL – the classic describing the DAG graph implementation in Delphinius.
